This is a preliminary report on some basic ethnographic
features of tribal distribution, settlement patterns, and community organization in the
Ghilzai Pashtun region of eastern Afghanistan (p. 575). Additional data are also presented
on the names of the various Ghilzai Pashtun groups, ecology of the region, land tenure, and
economy.
